| Faith In Maintainance Training Day |
|
Faith in Maintenance is a new initiative which aims to help volunteers who look after historic places of worship. We provide training to help you understand how your building works and how to solve common maintenance problems. Run by the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings and supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and English Heritage, the scheme offers free one-day training courses including practical sessions and professional speakers. Topics covered include how to recognise potential problems; tackling common maintenance tasks; understanding professional inspections and reports; and when to call in expert help. As well as talks, the day includes a practical exercise in observing and recording elements of the building and learning to identify defects, and offers opportunities for discussion and questions. After the course help and advice is available from a dedicated telephone technical advice service and a website. "I think that we all came away having learnt something, but much more importantly came away feeling invigorated, more confident and less alone." "I certainly went home feeling keener eyed so that I could identify and hopefully avoid potential problems, also better equipped in ways to deal with them." There is no charge to attend a Faith in Maintenance course This course is hosted by The Churches Conservation Trust & All Souls Crompton Community Centre For more information or to book a place please contact: Kate Minnis - SPAB Faith in Maintenance, 37 Spital Square, London E1 6DY Tel: 020 7456 0913 email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
